I have mixed feelings on the Brian Campbell situation. I'm disappointed to see him go the way of Jay Mckee, JP Dumont, Mike Grier, Chris Drury, and Danielle Briere. I know many people will place the blame on Sabres management for not having the foresight to sign Campbell ahead of time. But honestly, who really knew that player salaries would escalate the way they have? I'm a little disappointed in Brian Campbell. He talked about how much he enjoyed playing for the Sabres and that he didn't want to leave. He also said "It's out of my control." No Brian, it wasn't out of your control. One needs to look no further than the situation in Ottawa. Star players Dany Heatly and Jason Spezza both agreed to accept less money than they would have received on the open market because they wanted to keep the team intact. Brian Campbell had the opportunity to accept less money if he truly wanted to remain with the Sabres. It comes down to personal choice. How many of us would remain loyal to our job/community if we were offered a significant amount of money elsewhere?
