I don't have a computer at home, so I have to do all of my "computer business" here at school. Usually, after I log on, I check my email first. Then I may check out the news at www.buffalonews.com, or www.cnn.com. As a teacher, I also use my computer to keep track of my students' grades and attendance. I am very impressed with how much some students seem to know about computers and all that they are capable of doing. I would like to teach myself how to make a short video at some point. Hopefully this blog will help me become more comfortable with this "magical machine." We'll see ...

I guess I have to go back before many of our students were born to talk about my true caveman (woman) days on the computer. When my daughter was 4 (she's the same age as Mr. Lopez) we brought a computer into our home. It was a PC and ran on DOS programs (truly cavemen stuff for computer geeks). I was a stay-at-home Mom and knew that I had to learn about computers if I was going to get a job in education again. So I started with our little home computer and took a Word Processing course at our local community college. I learned a lot about computer programs through trial and error, including the first library cataloging I ever did. I found computers fascinating and the more I worked with them the more I wanted to know.
Thirteen years ago when my family moved to Buffalo and I was interviewing for jobs, it was practically the first question I was asked, "Do you know how to use a computer?" Well I did and thanks to Cheektowaga Central, and all the classes I have taken and the things I have learned from students, other teachers, and other librarians, I am pretty comfortable with computers, the Internet, and a variety of programs. We have had about 4 or 5 computers in our home over the years and are probably soon due for an update.
One of my favorite hobbies is digital photography and I am always looking for new things to learn about how to manipulate photos and use them in both school and my home. My children always tease me whenever I have been asked to take a picture of people who want a group snapshot. They suggest that I would probably be willing to put together a Power Point for the people too! I wish I had more time to devote to learning about video editing and putting both videos and photos together.
I have always considered myself to be a lifelong learner and I am willing to learn more. This year in the library, we will be trying some new ways to read about books on the internet and have interaction with student across the world. So let's go with Web 2.0 and learn together.

Nice job, Mr. Lopez, I can't wait to read your students' posts.

My computer is capable of many things, not just for searching the web but also playing games, music and downloading programs. My computer is built by dell for gaming, audio, and video. With my computer I am able to search faster and download faster. I am up to date with Myspace, limewire and the latest shooting and action games. Myspace is a website to keep in touch with your friends. You can post comments, leave messages, change your background, font color and all that good stuff. I am also able to change my IP address to make my online service faster. I have a links key modem that enables me to add computers or my Xbox to internet. My computer caries and upgraded DVD burner and a high format audio and video card.

I have experience on computers because my computer at home. I do about everything on my computer from talking to my friend to downloading music. When I go on the computer I usually check baseball and hockey news the go to Dan’s comp to see what bike I’m going to get. I don’t feel like a cave man on the computer because I’ve had to learn how to fix the computer at my house because other people at my house are caveman on the computer

I don’t know a whole lot about computers. I mainly use it to visit my myspace, go to an armwrestling message board, and watch videos. A few months ago I made a small website that was for armwrestling rankings. However the site got very little hits and it didn’t seem worth the twenty-five bucks a month. Especially since I had crappy design ideas for it and the color scheme always looked bad. I’ll play games every now and then but, not to often. Other than that I don’t do really anything else with my computer. I’ll generally go on my computer three to four times a week for a hour or two a day. This pretty much makes me feel like a caveman with my lack of knowledge on technology.

I'm extremely grateful that I have a computer. I’m probably on it about 1-2 hours everyday. Most of the stuff I do on the computer has to do with school, and my social life. I have a myspace account and that’s mainly where I talk to friends and family. I also have Google in case I need to research something. I think if I didn’t have a computer I could still survive, although life would be just a little harder. Computers are making life easier for people by the day. I don’t think I’m that good on the computer yet but I’m slowly getting there!

I am very advanced with a computer. I have my own laptop at home and I am on it all the time. There are only probably 5-6 things I do on it that keep me busy all day. The things I do are check my myspace, play VMK (virtual magical kingdom), go on my yahoo or aim mail, sign into aim and instant message all my friends, or I go on other game sites or even funny joke sites. There is a lot to do on a computer u just have to go and find your way through the internet. Well, technically I can’t always go on the internet because sometimes my step-father does not like to pay the internet bill so I’m out of luck. During school and when I have my computer I will do my projects on it. Like English I will type my essays or what not and put them on my flash drive and bring it to school. That is basically what I do...@_@

THATS KIND OF WHY I HATE DOING PROJECTS ON THE COMPUTER CAUSE SOME KIDS CAN DO ALL THESE DIFFERENT KINDS OF THINGS AND I AM VERY LIMITED OF WHAT I CAN DO ON THE COMPUTER
